About Hik

About Hik

Born near Tokyo Disneyland, Hik’s musical development began early when he started play on pots ‘n pans at age 3. He then upgraded to a real drumkit in high school and started playing in cover bands and school ensembles.

After finishing school he began studying drums at Queensland University of Technology under the guidance of drummers, Paul Hudson, Grant Collins and John Parker. This was eventually followed by private study with internationally recognised drummers such as Peter Erskine (Weather Report, Steely Dan), Chad Wackerman (Frank Zappa, James Taylor), Billy Ward (B.B King, Joan Osborne), Dave Elitch (The Mars Volta, Justin Timberlake), Darryn Farrugia, Damian Corniola and Benjamin Shannon.

Today, Hik works as a freelance drummer based in Brisbane. Some of the artists Hik has played behind include Blowhard, DeepBlue Orchestra, James Morrison, Nonsemble, Molecules to Minds and Suicide Country Hour to name a few.

He has shared the stage with international/national acts such as Joe Satriani, The Cat Empire, Washington, The Church, The Whitlams, Ball Park Music, Stiff Little Fingers, Ruts DC and many others.

Hik also is the Drumkit/Percussion tutor at Westside Christian College in Goodna.
